Motivation and Contents: The proposed special issue focuses on algorithms and methods for planning and scheduling problems including articles presenting theoretical studies or practical applications. Applications of artificial intelligence methods to any scheduling or planning problem are especially welcomed. Emphasis is given to papers describing immediately applicable techniques and application papers.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
    • Applications and case studies from planning and scheduling
    • Methodologies and tools for specification, design, implementation, and validation of planning and/or scheduling systems
    • Search for planning and scheduling
    • Constrained-based planning and scheduling
    • Distributed and multi-agent planning and scheduling
    • Relationships between planning and scheduling
    • Knowledge engineering techniques for planning and scheduling
    • Planning with resources and time constraints
    • Hierarchical task network planning
    • Dynamic scheduling
    • Mixed-initiative planning and scheduling
    • Plan and schedule execution, monitoring and repair
    • Planning and scheduling under uncertainty
    • Anytime and real-time planning and scheduling

Submissions

Papers should be submitted electronically via Journal of Scheduling's online submission system, following the journal's instructions to authors. Please indicate that your submission is to the Special Issue on "Applications and Methodologies for P&S". This is absolutely necessary for inclusion in the special issue and reviewing process within the special issue. There are no restrictions of the length of the paper, however papers of unusual length should be discussed with the guest editors prior their submission. All papers submitted to the special issue will be reviewed in accordance with the standard procedures of the Journal of Scheduling.

Please contact guest editors for additional information (including appropriateness of particular submissions for this call).
